GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN, USA--IAPCHE is pleased to announce the following two plenary speakers for the upcoming 3rd Biennial North American Regional Conference on Internationalizing Christian Higher Education: Learning to Listen, Listening to Learn which is scheduled for June 4-6, 2017. Dr. Faith W. Ngunjiri has a long-standing interest in the integration of faith, ethics, and leadership/work both personally and as a research interest. She has a doctorate in Leadership Studies from Bowling Green State University (2006), and is currently directing the Lorentzsen Center for Faith and Work and teaching Ethics and Leadership at Concordia College.
Prior to her work at Concordia, Ngunjiri taught in the doctoral program in organizational leadership at Eastern University; as associate director of Ethics & Spirituality in the Workplace program at Yale Center for Faith and Culture; as a visiting Faculty at Indiana University-Purdue University; and in adjunct positions at University of St Francis, Regent University, and Indiana College of Technology. Dr. Ngunjiri is the co-editor of a series of books on women and leadership, author of Women’s Spiritual Leadership in Africa (SUNY, 2010), and coach with Global Leadership Development, LLC. Dr. Ngunjiri is a native of Kenya, and has lived in the United States since 2003.
Dr. Ruth Padilla DeBorst has been involved in leadership training, church and community development, and theological education for several decades. A narrative theologian, speaker, and teacher, she serves as a leader in several regional ministries: on the Board of the Latin American Theological Fellowship; the Networking Team of the International Fellowship of Mission as Transformation (INFEMIT); the editorial team of Ediciones Certeza Unida; and as Vice-Rector Academic of Comunidad de Estudios Teológicos Interdisciplinarios (CETI).
As a missionary with Christian Reformed World Missions she first served in student ministry with the Comunidad Internacional de Estudiantes Evangélicos (IFES), next with Seeds of New Creation, a ministry that trains for and promotes holistic mission in El Salvador, and later with the Institute ProIntegral Education. She also previously served on IAPCHE's Board, representing the Latin America regional members. Dr. Padilla DeBorst completed her doctoral degree in Missiology and Social Ethics at Boston University. She lives with her husband, James, as part of Casa Adobe, an intentional Christian community in Costa Rica.
IAPCHE is thrilled to be hosting Dr. Faith W. Ngunjiri and Dr. Ruth Padilla DeBorst, both of whom we believe can convey well our theme, Learning to Listen, Listening to Learn by articulating lessons from their own experiences, inspiring new ways of thinking, and informing participants of helpful strategies to bring home to their institutions.
